I have a 1997 GMC Truck C1500 1/2ton Sub 2WD 5.7L SFI 8cyl, suburban about 3 weeks ago the car wouldn't start, the panel lights were on and we tried to jump the car but it didn't start, but when we tried to start it after putting the car on neutral and changed the gear lever it started, but today it has happened and again and it would not start.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say made it start the 1st time, but sounds like it wouldn't start while in "Park", but when you moved it to neutral, it started? If that's the case, there's a switch that makes up a safety circuit to ensure you don't start the vehicle in gear. So Park and Neutral work to satisfy the safety circuit. Usually this is either computer controlled, or there is a connection on the shifter inside the dash.
