  • How much memory should itunes use?

My wife's newish laptop is struggling with itunes. I checked out the task manager and saw it was using between 400 and 850 MB of memory at any given time. This seems WAY too much. I saw several other online questions about it with very little detail about how to rectify, but even those people were saying 150-300MB seemed like too much.

Ideas? Help? Or just suck it up, because this is just another great Apple product I should be ecstatic about...?

Anyone recognize what make/model rims these are? I can't seem to find them anywhere.?

  • 2010 Suburban aux battery location?

I have a 2010 Suburban LT 4WD w/ 5.3l. My wife is in another state right now so I can't look the truck over, but she unplugged the battery overnight to try and reset some things, but everything stayed powered up. The clocks were unchanged, nothing reset, even the trip counters were as they were. Is there another battery somewhere? If so, where is it at?

  • Interstate Child Support question...?

I currently live in Kansas, my ex-wife lives in South Carolina. We divorced in Texas. She is entirely uncooperative for cost-sharing with our son, who I have majority custody of. I would like to sue for child support, but am unsure as to how to go about it. File in original jurisdiction? My jurisdiction currently? Her jurisdiction?

  • Can you "clean" a grain fed steer by pasturing for a period of time?

For the past 2 years my family has raised and butchered our own grass fed only steers. This winter we don't have any stock ready to go, our next steer to be ready won't be until next year. We would like to purchase another steer to do, but of course the grain fed steers are much easier to find, cheaper, and closer than the grass fed only steer. i can't seem to find any information on if you can "un grain" a steer, or "clean" it by putting it on grass for a period of time. I can probably wait as long as 2 to 3 months to butcher, so would have that amount of time where it would get grass only. Thoughts?

  • How much to rent earth movers?

I'm interested in renting a bulldozer or large backhoe to do some dirtwork on my property. What are good places to look to rent these? Should I try to discuss it with locals who might own them? How much should I expect to reasonably pay?

  • How to install wood stove?

I have a small new wood stove, and I would like to install it in my basement. I already have a chimney with a flue that has been inspected. I need to learn how to set it up and protect the walls near it, etc. Not having much luck with online resources. The setup will be an "L" shaped exhaust from the top of the stove into a hole in the side of the chimney. Any forums or other resources that are handy?

  • How to report sale of divided land on taxes?

I purchased 75 acres of land for $65,000 3 years ago. I sold 38 acres of that this year for $63,000. I walked away from closing with about $3k after paying off what I owed on the land. How in the world do I report this on my taxes?

  • Vanity top doesn't align with cabinet, what should I do?

Purchased just a new vanity top. The old top is exactly the same dimensions, but the new top doesn't have as much "lip" that sets on the edges of the cabinet. Looking for what to do here. My thoughts are:

    1) Leave as is and secure down. It seems stable and has good connections on 2 sides, and the corner of the other 2 sides

    2) Move out of the way and put down a thin border of plywood/OSB for the entire sink to sit on.

    3) Foam/filler to connect overhang to cabinet

    Ideas? Recommendations?

  • 96 Olds Ciera no-start?

Before this started, the car would occasionally stall out, and was increasing in frequency. There appear to be no associated codes in the computer. The ignition module has been put into the "bypass" mode instead of the normal EST mode after startup. I initially suspected all of these spliced wires as the culprit, however it turned into a no-start. Now, the car won't even fire up. What I do notice is that instead of the fuel pump priming on first key-on, it will re-prime (coupled with what appears to be a PCM/ignition reset) about every 3-5 seconds. Since the fuel pump and PCM share a 15 amp fuse, I'm suspecting something is causing a repetitive short. Anyone have any experience with this type of failure? I'm at a loss for where to start short of following the wires from battery all the way to the PCM (not going to enjoy that).

  • Young boy potty accidents.. help!?

My 6 yr old potty trained at 3 yrs old. We have had times where he has zero accidents, but most recently it has gone from accidents occasionally to several a day. Both pee and poop accidents now, when before mostly just pee accidents. We have tried every angle from the "it's not a big deal", hourly reminders, punishments, cleaning up himself, grounding from toys/games/etc that occupy his focus, and seem to have run out of ideas and it hasn't gotten any better. We are at our wits end and would like to know if there are any more suggestions we could follow.

  • When/how to prune apple tree from seed?

I have a start grown from a fuji apple seed (I know it won't give me Fuji apples necessarily). It is now about 18" tall, w/ 25 shoots off the "main" stem. It seems to have slowed considerably in it's growth, and I'm wondering if I should be removing some of the side stems (scaffolds?). Clearly I won't be wanting many if any of these shoots in the final tree, but I also don't want to traumatize the tree and have it die. Thoughts, comments, suggestions?

  • How much should we donate to the humane society for two horses?

We plan on getting 2 rescue ponies from a foster home attached to one of the local humane society locations. The "adoption" is free, but they "request" a donation. What would be a good amount? Things to keep in mind are that these ponies might end up with significant medical bills, are unregistered, untrained, and that the horse market right now is extremely depressed.

  • Post-vasectomy pregnancy options?

I had a vasectomy a bit over 5 years ago, after my third child. Now, we have decided that we would like to have another child. I have done some research, and the options appear to be a vasectomy reversal, and IVF using harvested sperm. We have minimal issues with either direction, but would like to know if one or the either is "better" for us.

For one, we are still under 30, so I understand we are not in the "usual" category for those looking for IVF procedures. I will of course be checking with my insurance and a specialist about the best options for us, but was looking for more information and personal reading material on the subject that perhaps simple searches would not lead me to. I have seen several excellent posts on here, but all were 2+ years old.

Any information that is helpful would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance!

(Please no comments regarding the decision to get a vasectomy itself, that is not the issue)

  • Would this be hypocritical?

Most people's reaction to a male masturbating, who won't have sex at all or as much as his partner (wife, girlfriend, etc) would like, ESPECIALLY if the porn viewing is the only way the male will have sex at all: asshole guy.

Most people's reaction to a female masturbating, who won't have sex at all or as much as her partner (husband, boyfriend, etc) would like, and the husband, boyfriend, etc is upset by this:

    asshole guy??

I'm confused why this blatant double standard exists.

  • Downgradde Vista64 to XP Pro. Can't get internet, sound, and various other items to work. HELP?

Thought of myself as fairly computer savvy, but this is kicking my a$$. Don't want to deal with Vista anymore, and some of my commonly used software will not work on it. I have a XP Pro SP3, just need to get my hardware working. CPU is AMD x64, chipset is nVidia nForce, laptop is DV2000 (on carriage) or DV2500 (on label). Major issues are sound and internet. Have the video working well, and decent functionality. Any ideas appreciated. Have downloaded half a gig of drivers and they don't seem to be doing the job!

  • What can I do about my Ex-wife trying to ruin my credit?

Been divorced for 5 years (Williamson County, TX). In divorce, she got both possession of AND LIABILITY for her car (2003 Kia). Numerous times, she failed to make payments, and since no one would re-finance in her name only, it has consistently deteriorated my credit. I have paid $1500 of my own money to try and keep it current (not that I can afford it), and now it seems I may end up with a judgement for $2000 against me and liens on my property. In March, the car was "totalled" by the insurance company for hail damage. Someone, she got the title (salvaged), and is driving it. The bank says that it can no longer repossess the car since it has been salvaged, which was the only incentive for her to pay for the car at all since her credit has already been ruined. We purchased GAP insurance for the vehicle (insurance payout did not cover it all by a long shot), BUT it seems that GAP policies don't have to pay out if you haven't been current on your payments. Again, she owns nothing so it's to her benefit to just not pay the car to "get me".

I know that I can do an "enforcement", but it looks like the only punishment if she doesn't do it is contempt, which apparently is usually lenient.

Any advice? I don't want to spend a mint (that I don't really have) to fail to get anything done.

  • Why does Think Progress disable/inhibit opposing viewpoints ability to post on their site?

I decided to enter the comment/discussion on a Think Progress posting, only to have my posting priveleges messed with (see comment section of Olbermann gives 10k to ManCow article). If I got to the site without logging in, it works perfectly, but depending on the computer, now if I log in I either can't see the comment section, or it won't let me type in the comment box. Is this what happens when someone offers an opposing viewpoint on their "progressive" website? Is reasoned disagreement so deleterious to their claims that they must silence it?

  • What's wrong with my Pekin duck?

Female Pekin duck has stopped laying, stopped eating (for the most part), has lost significant weight, seems lethargic, seems to be losing feathers/luster, eyes seem blurry/irritated, mucous on bill. Have another duck that isn't showing any symptoms, and chickens as well that all seem healthy. Any ideas, or recommendations on what I should do?
