Ammo Prices Going...Down?

Maybe it's just me and my shopping sources, but I feel like prices have been getting lower. The two calibers I mainly watch are .308 and 7.62x25.

Over the last several months, I've seen .308 go from $15-$16 a box to $10-$12.

Likewise, the 7.62x25 rounds have dropped from the average 50 cents per round to about 40 cents.

I also noticed that the 7.62x25 used to be harder to find and now some the usual carriers are getting more frequent shipments and old providers that haven't had it in a while that I used to buy from are getting it back in stock.

Anyone else noticing any declines?

It seems that way to me at least, so for the love of God, no one do anything moronic with their guns for the next century... (Yes, I already know that's too much to ask by reading the questions on here...)

Update:

Space Cowboy, you have my condolences. Some of the stuff that is close to the same price as the US is out of stock on there too. And who pays over $20 for 7.62x54R??

And $16+ for 9mm? What is it, Crazytown over there?? The Canadian dollar is worth 10 cents more than the USD, but still, there's some unaccounted for deficits there...

It's not really a decline, but from what I've seen, things are about back to pre-panic prices. It seems that everything can be found in reasonable quantities, of course save for .22, and I don't check on 7.62x39.

There is definitely a floor for ammo prices though. The input prices for the raw materials have all at least doubled over the last ten years, and demand for ammo is as high as ever, so I'm not sure how much ammo prices can fall. The days of $8 bricks of .22 and $3 boxes of .223 aren't coming back, that's for sure.

They are but only for the more common calibers. And 22 is excluded due to extreme high demand. I am not sure about 7.62x39.

On the other end of the spectrum less common calbers such as 270 Winchester which I use for medium to near large hunting is nearly twice as much as it should be.

FWIW, Walmart in the Dallas area sells a box of American Eagle .223 FMJ, 30/box for 14 bucks. Can't beat that for plinking and sighting in.

Prices have been pretty steady here. And WayneH, I've seen 50 round boxes of 5.56x45mm NATO for less than $10 here. $14 for 30 rounds would make me angry.

Geez...308 for 10 to $15 a box....stun me with a cattle prod. Ours is twice that high and we never had any shortages. "Moose"...if you want to see what we have to deal with, google < canada ammo > and click on "ammo" in the header. These are about on par for the country.

Source(s): That's the main reason I don't have a Glock 20....high ammo price versus low availability.

I don't know that prices have gone down much or any, but most ammo (all but .22 lr) is available.
