In 3rd person how do I make an insane character? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!?

It is a dark story where my heroine starts out caring about others and then is kidnapped and taken to a dark version of Wonderland and she slowly goes insane. She is not a strong character physically and always puts herself down. Lately she has started to get stronger but now that the only person she could find solace in killed himself and she sees every memory of his.

I have her questioning her morals and had her laugh at really inappropriate times-when someone died-and she recently bashed a body several times because her friends memories of the dead person was cheerful and she was seeing that and the corpse and couldn't handle it. What else can I do to make her LIKABLE AND INSANE IN 3RD PERSON? Thank you SO much!

Push the memories thing, more actions and reactions that relate to specific memories she had with him. But very specific, so that the 'flashback' she sees can almost be reconstructed from our 3rd person view of the actions she takes along with the trigger that causes it. I think a few incidents like that, especially sweet ones that aren't necessarily related to morals, would help convey the (likable) insanity and make the ones that question her morals more contextual.
