  • Writing about a village abusing a family who they believe murdered their mother? Help!?

The mother died and the family couldn t find the killer so the village suspected them. The father is crippled and so the daughter has to bring home food since they live on the outskirts. She is harassed and starts to believe she killed her mother.

What are her thoughts? How would she react? How far would a village go to hurt her?

  • Is this legal to write a book on?

I was very inspired by the movie Anastasis 1997 by Century Fox and loved the love/hate relationship between Dimitri and Anastasia. If I change the plot but keep the personalities of the characters, is this legal? There are dragons, political intrigue and other things in this that wasn't in the movie.

  • What does this mean in Japanese? Did I translate them correctly? Simple, easy Japanese.?

    杖を手に取る-Take up staff/rod.

(When translating, should I include "hand" since the kanji is there, or should it be implied?)

首を横に振る-Neck horizontally shake...SO: Shake head?? As in to reject the staff? How do I translate this properly?

  • What does this short simple sentence mean in Japanese? 旅の方ですか?

NO GOOGLE TRANSLATE PLEASE. I imported a ps3 game-Beyond the Future Fix the Time Arrows, and I was doing well until this came up: I am very early in the game.

    旅の方ですか?

本当に大丈夫ですか?-Are you sure you are ok/alright? Are you alright?

What is the first question? The first kanji 旅 on Jisho said that it means: 500 man battalion army in the Chinese Zhou Dynasty army OR trip/travel/journey. 方 has these as the main possible definitions, but there a LOT more possibilities for this kanji: alternative/direction/person; etc.

So what would the first question mean? I am having difficulty translating. PLEASE explain a little bit on how you translated if you could.

I don't understand why the second question asks if you are ok, and the first refers to if you are possibly going somewhere? I have no idea who is talking to whom here, so the character I just met could be asking my character this, OR I am speaking to him. The character doesn't appear to be wearing traditional Chinese clothing, so I am assuming that the battalion definition isn't right, but I don't know.

Sorry, just really confused with what is going on. THANK YOU!!!

  • Can you transfer JLPT scores to colleges for language credit?

I am going to my first year of college this August, and my degree requires a foreign language...this college has NO foreign language classes. I will be taking the JLPT 5 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) this year. Can I use the score I get as a substitute for language credits? My academic advisers have not been helpful with this, and I want to know if anyone has done this, or if they know it's possible. THANK YOU!

  • Why do I get butterflies and my heart beats fast when reading or watching shoujo manga/anime?

It only happens if I like the two love interests and when cute moments happen or when they might kiss. I NEVER have felt this when reading/watching any other kind of manga/anime. What is this? It's like how I feel around someone I like-nervous, excited and I have butterflies and my heart pounds. Is this normal?

  • Would I like Rune Factory 3 even if I am a girl? 10 points!?

I play lots of games, and I don't mind playing as a boy-I am getting RF 4 too but I am NEW TO THE SERIES. I am straight, so would this still be an enjoyable game for a girl to play when a part of the game involves romance between the protagonist and bachelorettes?

  • What is this Japanese children's book? And help with one sentence please?

    It's called:

    osushide genki! No spaces.

"Haruno aru hi, tagayasareta yamano tanboni, mizuga ireraremashita."

There are no spaces between the words and particles in the book.

    In hiragana:

"ハるの ある ひ, たがやされた やまの たんぼに, みずが いれられました."

Explanations for anything also would be extremely helpful!!!

NO TRANSLATORS PLEASE. I have used many different ones already and they weren't that helpful. Hence, why I am here:)

    Thank you!

  • I have vitiligo and I am terrified I won't find a husband (and I want to go to Japan)? Please, some advice!?

It is very mild but it is spreading again. They are just on my joints-elbows, knees, my right wrist and now on my neck, hips, feet and fingers. I really want to go to Japan one day too, and am afraid that people will be afraid of me.

I have been optimistic about it, but now I am looking at myself and see a monster. I have been asked out a lot, but I am afraid that one day, it will spread so much that everyone will hate me. Can I go to Japan and find a husband there? Or can I even find a husband at all, regardless of nationality? Sorry, I am just really scared.

  • Dream where I was in a bookstore? And most of the books were in Japanese? 10 points!?

They were all manga and they were cheap because they are cheaper in Japanese. I found Pokemon cards too and my dad was there, and then he left. I wandered around and picked each one up. I COULD READ THEM. Some were all in Japanese and I carried a couple with me and they never changed into something else like it happens in most dreams. I could read the Japanese too. Most of it was what I already knew but I could tell it apart from Chinese and I remember feeling so happy and wishing I could stay there.

  • What did you think while reading this? Creepy, depressing? Do I have potential? PLEASE ANY THOUGHTS?

This a part where I am trying to let the readers see that the MC is finally going crazy from everything she has gone through in a dark Wonderland retelling.

Or maybe she had been aiming to save them from their inevitable doom? Alice clenched her teeth. But they were doing wrong! What was her stand in all of this? Who was she loyal to? Herself. Then why didn’t she know who exactly she was? Constantly, Reds memories sliced through her life, conflicting her.

She knew these dead children. And the sad thing was that they really were children, their innocence tarnished. Alice dug her nails into her head and screamed as their faces filled her vision, cheerful and laughing. She had cared deeply about them. No, Red had. But their laughter pierced her ears and her heart lifted in joy at the memories while her eyes showed her another story that didn match with what her heart was telling her.

Without control, her arms snatched at the nearest object-a branch, and she charged and struck at the bodies. If they could be blotted out, if she could erase them, she would not feel this.

Dash attempted to deter her but she kept swinging and telling the corpses to go away and stop their giggling. The twins quizzically sat down to watch as she continued hacking away and as Dash finally wrested the branch from her dirtied hands to wrap her in his arms. Instead of pushing him away she clung on as the flashbacks zipped over her and the only person who tried to hold her together fell apart.

  • In 3rd person how do I make an insane character? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!?

It is a dark story where my heroine starts out caring about others and then is kidnapped and taken to a dark version of Wonderland and she slowly goes insane. She is not a strong character physically and always puts herself down. Lately she has started to get stronger but now that the only person she could find solace in killed himself and she sees every memory of his.

I have her questioning her morals and had her laugh at really inappropriate times-when someone died-and she recently bashed a body several times because her friends memories of the dead person was cheerful and she was seeing that and the corpse and couldn't handle it. What else can I do to make her LIKABLE AND INSANE IN 3RD PERSON? Thank you SO much!

  • Does anyone else want this in their life? Is this normal? All can answer! 10 points for opinion!!!!!!!!!?

I am a romantic at heart and LOVE action and adventure, specific movies and books, poetry, anime, video games, etc. However, it seems to me that now in society love is confused with lust. I want so badly to have a romance depicted in Disney/Ghibli/YA books etc. I want a RESPECTFUL person who really would sacrifice themselves for me if needed for I would readily do the same. This doesn't have to be for just girls to answer.

I wish there was excitement in life, or at least more than what we have. I just watched Frozen and while the romance was a little flat, I still enjoyed it and realized, stuff like that probably will never happen. And that makes me really sad.

  • Question about "Ya" in Japanese? 10 points!!!?

In my Japanese copy, the father says "to sa ya no kono____ <--kanji for a horse betting ticket that has a large payback if you win the gamble."

So it looks like this: とさやんの. He is telling his daughter that he means to pay his debts back after winning a bet, to which she freaks about as he used up all of their food money.

For what purpose is there a "ya" after "tosa?" And why is "n" after "ya?"

  • What does this mean in Japanese?

きき た まえ Kiki ta mae.

This is from Fire Emblem Awakening and Virion said this to Sully. It was not in the text he actually said it in the game.
