Use of lube on control arm bushings?
I drive a 2007 Ford Focus SES with the 2.0 DOHC. For the last several months, I've had a serious groaning problem coming from the rear whenever I take a sharp right (esp on a hill), get in or out of the car, or hit any kind of dip or pothole. Handling has also been very rough and unpleasant. I don't have a lot of resources or tools, but I've considered the control arm bushings as the most likely possibility. Seeing that i don't have the money to replace anything ATM, I thought I might just pull the rear wheels and lube the control arms, bearings...IDK what to look for, I just know it's very prominent, even when leaving on either wheel. Is there anything i should avoid if going the lube route, and what would be the best option for it? Wd40 probably won't suffice...

The groaning may be rubbing effect of something not nessasarily worn or dry bush though this is likely.
By all means remove wheel and try and ascertain exact fault. Have a friend assist and try and pinpoint which side or spot we think it is. Eg friend leaning on car..get noise each time.. Can we reach or see underneath before removing wheel.. Noise area?m
Be careful of fingers..but it may be possible to fel the joint? Bush? Or rubbing part before wheel removed.
Once we have known cause we can best deal with it. Wd40 is a decent penetrating lube but only lasts few hours or days at most.

Do not ever lubricate suspension bushings with oil. It would rot the hard rubber inside the steel sleeve. When the time is right a Ford garage had all the tools necessary to change any suspension bushings qiockly.

If you're lazy like me first you can try driving up and down steep driveways at an angle to articulate the suspension and move everything around. That noise could be a ton of stuff, its more likely a swaybar bushing then control arm though IMO. Hit the bushings one at a time and drive up and down those driveways till you find the one that makes it go away.
I doubt a rear factory control arm would have grease nipples for rubber control arm bushings...

Don't use any petroleum based product on the rubber bushings--only silicon or dry teflon lube. I don't think it will stop your noise, but no downside to trying it.

You must purchase one more wheel that has a bad offset this may deliver the wheel deeper into the wheel good so your wheel will stand straight find it irresistible used to be designed. Predicament will go away.
