Why are more channels added when its just the same programs as seen on another channel.?
CBS Really channel 66 in Cornwall.
On looking at that channel I noticed repeats of Judge Judy on the new channel 66.
Judge Judy is already on ITV3 channel 10.
Another channel added was for movies and I notices same films as seen on channel 15.
So the new channels are just more repeats instead of new films and programs.
I would like the email address to contact them to let them know new channels should mean different films and programs.
The amount of films advertised on sky over 5 years ago could be shown on freeview.
As not everyone as Sky.
There are a lot of channels on freeview-and yet the same programs are often repeated over and over again.
One is Heartbeat that just keeps showing repeats all the time.
There are even old TV programs before freeview like Dixon of Dock Green that was very popular-Brookside also ended their series-so how about looking at programs we had before and some new films.
And to repeat twice over a matter of years is fine.
But its never ending repeats and Television had better programs showing and less repeats before freeview added more channels full of.....REPEATS.

You are right and there should be some regulation with TV channel content much of it is crap to
pad out the time between advertisements!

they have just launched a new channel in London, called London live - 24 hours, but mostly repeats from channel 4 (Misfits, peepshow, spaced, smack the pony, etc)
but there are a couple of good bits that are new and exclusive to London
I dont have sky, but I sometimes see stuff on Sky Atlantic that looks good.
you have to realise that these stations want to make money (adverts) but also dont want to spend too much (new and innovative shows) so they will throw in some new stuff to attract viewers, but will also try and fill time with repeat shows which have been popular in the past.
so I guess the only thing you can do, is praise them for the new stuff, and turn over when its the 93rd repeat showing of doc martin

The problem faced by most TV stations is explained in one word 'production'. I worked for abc News bureau here in London as a press telegrapher back in the period c1967-1991 the company was very wealthy and owned studios in Hollywood and was thus able to produce great TV shows and soaps. Abc Sports almost owned the Olympic coverage worldwide and probably still does.
The cost of production of a single episode of say Corrie is in the millions - that money can only be recovered by the advertising. Corrie has a vast audience in the Millions.
The most successful TV broadcasting company anywhere in the world is the BBC - you'll be amazed just how many countries take their productions.

The BBC does not just have a domestic audience here in UK it has a Global audience and is able to produce shows on a vast scale simply because most of them a produced by outside companies who then get to show them via the BBC.
You may already be aware that the BBC is going to dump it's BBC3 channel and also it's BBC Radio 3 channel too. Gone be a winner.
Modern TV is mainly about repeats, repeats and repeats. Millions of people here in UK esp the young are now tuned into radio - far more interesting than TV - yes old fashioned you might think but production costs are lower than they are for TV.
If you do not own the sort of world command radio which I own, worry not, because you can simply tune into radio via the Internet.
This first link is just a small sample of some of the radio stations online from the USA where radio is vastly more important to the people than TV ever was or ever will be.
