Questions about Windows 8.1?
I'm thinking about fresh installing Windows 8.1 on my laptop.
Does this new OS have stability issues like Vista?
Is Windows 8.1 even any good?
Also, is this site reliable for keys:

I am a windows user since windows 3.11 in late 1990's.. and I have personally upgraded my computers to the next Windows version (except NT) at every step until windows 8.1..
My advise, if your computer is upto the task, go ahead and upgrade.. I have 2 computers running windows8.1 and I am happy with windows 8.1.. my desktop computer unfortunately is not upto the task so it is left with Windows 7..
Windows 8.1 came and solved many problems that windows 8 had.. most notably the search feature..
I used to complain about the way windows 8 conducted the search..
And very recently (within one week), Microsoft had formally announced that the next windows 8.1 update will include a functioning start menu similar to windows 7..
(I speculate it would be similar to 'Stardock's Start8' that is set at windows 8 metro style.. of which the Start Metro will be confined inside a small box in the desktop... see the picture below, that's actually Start8 program that was put in Windows 8 style instead of the default windows 7 style)
In terms of stability, it is very stable.. although I notice Internet explorer 11 crashes more frequently than in windows 7.. but overall, windows 7 crashes more often than my windows 8.1..
And in 8.1, they did make it less intrusive for upgrades to occur.. in windows 8.1 you can set the updates to manual, compared to windows 8 updates that usually interrupts your work in order to install updates (which really pissed me off)..
The start up, almost 2 minutes on windows 7, and 12 seconds on windows 8.. that's huge!!
Some people hate windows 8 and advise returning to windows 7.. but this is a step backward..
Granted windows 8 and 8.1 is visually less appealing than windows 7, but in terms of start up time, security and speed.. windows 8.1 is much better than windows 7, and I will call people who advise to downgrade to windows 7 to be delusional and hard-minded..
I ran some trouble with some of my software when I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1..
Most of the time, you just need to uninstall and reinstall the program (it happened to my Corel VideoStudio x5) and sometimes you need to download and install a patch (like the windows 8.1 upgrade for Stardock Start8)..
But 80% of my software accepted the upgrade from 8 to 8.1 with no hitch.. I even running a game that was first released in 1996, and it still works..
Windows 8 have this new learning curve that you have to overcome, its why many people are resistant to windows 8 and 8.1.. but I believe anyone of us can make it with little persistance.. and now I am one of the few who look at the Metro style and would say "hey Microsoft, I get it, I truly get it!!"..
Windows 8.1 is the way to the future, and they are already talks about upcoming windows 9.. no sense of going back.. if your computer is upto it..
