What's the point of Bassnectar pins? (Electronic Music)?

I'm just curious. I have a EDM junkie friend that collects Bassnectar, Griz, Pretty Lights, etc pins.... But I'm unsure what the real purpose are for those... Like do most people wear them at concerts and festivals or do they just collect and/or resell them.

I'm also asking because there are some cool ones out there. Especially Pretty Lights ones on Etsy and various Facebook groups like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/283967178422815/30...

which are pretty cool groups and websites.

I might just grab one, but I want to really know what they are used for.
