there is no time limit when you recover deleted files. deleted files can be recovered as long as thay are not overwritten. so when files get lost, you should avoid any writting actions, so that deleted files can be recovered successfully. eassos recovery free is able to recover deleted files for free, so you can have a test.

Yes, you can recover deleted files 5 years ago from your computer. Files you have accidentally moved or deleted from computer can be recovered using a file recovery program, search file recovery although some are available free some are better than others

I used "001 file recovery" and have recovered files that were deleted a good few years ago. but the longer you wait the harder it will be to recover as file are deleted the icon is removed from windows but the file is still on the disc or drive and with time the file becomes over written. so the sooner you try to recover the better.

Yes, in many cases deleted files can be recovered and there is no time limit. However, the more the drive has been used the more likely that the deleted files have been written over and would not be recoverable anymore.

    The answer is... it depends.

It depends on how much you have written onto the disk since the files have been deleted and if the the newly written files were written onto the same block of the harddrive as the old files.

It is even possible to recover data on a drive that has been completely reformatted.

Rahul's statement is inaccurate. There is freeware recovery software out there. Hirens BootCD contains a variety of free recovery software. Are they as good as what the people in Seagate labs use? Most likely not but its something.

    There is no time limit.

    How it works:

    1) Whenever we write files on hard disk, hard disk saves it by physical change on the magnetic disk & saves the logical address of the file.

    2) Whenever we delete any file, it removes the file & its logical address. BUT that physical change will remain on the disk until

    i) you format your drive (change fs)

ii) computer writes another file on the same place (overwrite physically)

    3) If its still there, those deleted files can be recovered by reading those physical change on the disk.

    Short answer:

If you've been using the hardrive of the laptop/computer for 5 years, its unlikely that you'd recover anything that was written to it 5-10 years ago.

If you haven't used it for 5-10 years and done very little on it, you have a more of a chance.

    Long answer:

    Read them above.
