Antibiotics can make you sleepy as will fighting off an infection. Wake him up every once in a while just to offer fluids and check on his temp. But it is not uncommon for them to sleep long stretches while sick. Give the meds time to work (about 48 hours and you should see an improvement) and your little one will be back to normal. If after 48-72 hours you don't see improvement it may be the wrong antibiotic, then return the child to the doctors.

I would give his doctor a call if it were my baby. Yes having the infection can make him tired but sleeping for 16 hours is a lot. It is probably fine but it wont hurt to call the doctor to be sure.

No, don't worry. the illness has simply tuckered him out. After 16 hours though, IK would wake him to eat, change his diaper and to give him his medication at the proper times.

It's totally normal, both for being ill and for being on an antibiotic.
