Why do i feel sick when i am trying to get to sleep even though i feel fine all day?

When i lay down to get to sleep my stomach tenses up and i feel sick. I eat dinner at around 3-4 hours before i go to bed so it's not because i have eaten. It has been happening for a few months now. I have tried making sure my room isn't too warm but it doesn't help. I don't feel it's bad enough to see a GP about as it isn't that bad most nights.

thanks :D

Update:

erin - thanks for your answer but i am a woman and i know I am not pregnant as i am a lesbian :)

you could have something like IBS- nothing serious, but it takes food a loooong time to digest properly. do you drink any hot drinks before you go to bed?

could it be possible that you're allergic to something in your toothpaste?

i don't know your daily routine, so i can't really come up with some valid explanations :/

If you are a guy then I would highly recommend that you see a gastroenterologist. They helped me with the same situation. Very good feeling to know that it could be avoided. But if you're a girl then dido. Also, you very well might need a pregnancy checkup.
