How Many Times Do Gays Repent Before They Turn Straight?
The religious theory is that gay people choose to be gay.
If a gay man repents in church - when he walks out into the parking lot after church does he now find women attractive?
Or does it take a couple more sessions?

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 reads: "Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Do not be misled.* Those who are sexually immoral,* idolaters, adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality,* thieves, greedy people, drunkards, revilers,* and extortioners will not inherit God’s Kingdom. And yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean; you have been sanctified; you have been declared righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God."
Notice how the latter part of that passage acknowledges how some were able to stop living as unrighteous person (including homosexuals) and were declared righteous. This does not mean that the "desire" is eradicated, rather, it means the individuals have intentionally chosen to avoid such homosexual practices. This also does not mean they remarkably turned straight. No, they simply restrain themselves from giving in to homosexual practices and perhaps become celibate and "asexual", if you will, for the remainder of their life as an imperfect being.
To make another example, when someone overcomes alcoholism, that does not necessarily mean they would no longer enjoy the taste of alcohol. It means, they have decided to avoid ACTIONS that would merit them alcoholics by exercising superior self control with the assistance of God's holy spirit.

Actually, yes, it IS a funny question. Anyways, WHY does it matter if its a choice or not? If its a choice does that make it any more or less wrong?
To answer your question, there have been gays that have chosen to be in a religion that does not accept homosexuality and refrained from the practice, but "repenting" your gayness will not work. HOW ABOUT CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF REGARDLESS OF YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE. And also, stay out of other peoples business. What people do in their bedroom and with whom in no way affects any part of your life.

My thought would be that any believer should repent for the amount of sin we all commit. As far as dating if they can't (a belIever) choose what God desired then maybe not dating will be their cross to bare. Just because we feel as though we should have someone in our lives doesn't mean God planned it that way.

Impossible. By that logic i could become a man through confession. Homosexuals are born the way they are.
If becoming a believer makes you straight, why are so many priests targeting little boys?

Gay thoughts are temptation. Just as getting drunk or lying is a temptation. You do not repent of your temptations ,you repent of your sins. Being tempted is not a sin ,but acting on the temptation is a sin.you may never over come your temptations ,but through prayer it may subside.

If a person really repents, this means they will turn away from doing the sin and try not to go back to it.

Homosexuality is biological. Scientists have discovered a similarity between the neural pathways in gays that are not found in straight folks.

You start by believing that God does not allow that lifestyle. And your faith, in God will help you to please God. It has to be transformed, by the renewing of your mind. Although this is a sin against the body, like adultery and fornication, they are tied in with your mind and heart, that opened up doors to other beliefs, outside the word of God. However, sin in general, like gluttony, pride, hate, vexation etc, are all of the mind and heart also. The act follows the thoughts, the thoughts do not follow the act. Jesus says, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

As a bisexual Christian it hasn't worked that way for me, and I'm confident that God's grace is sufficient for me. And so I just continue trusting him for his promises, and life goes on far beyond whether someone is Gay or not.
