I believe in God but...?

Okay, so I am a really good person, I'm kind, generous, respectful, honest and everything. I pray every night a before I eat a meal, I pray when I'm in trouble or when someone else is, I'm grateful for everything that God has given me and I know he loves me. I also celebrate Christmas and Easter, and even Lent.

But, I do not dress modestly, I absolutely do not believe in marriage whatsoever, I don't really want kids, I flirt with people, I am a writer and the stuff I write isn't always... holy.

I don't know, I just feel like everyone is pressured to be a certain way and to follow God's rules, but I think that he loves everyone and he created us in his image. I don't perceive God as someone extremely controlling and high above. I think of him sort of as a friend and someone to guide me in hard times.

My extremely religious friend (who is Baha'i) keeps telling me to stop wearing short shorts and bikinis because it attracts men's attention. I don't care what it does to others! I dress for myself! The only day I will dress for a man will be at my burial when I go to heaven and meet Jesus :D.

Don't worry, I don't do anything stupid, I don't sleep around, I'm a virgin, I don't do drugs or anything bad.

I was just wondering if you can be Godly without doing everything they tell you to in the Bible? I think it's a bit ridiculous that I should wear long dresses and go to church every Sunday just because someone wrote it in a book 3000 years ago....

The Bible does not dictate the length of your dress. The Bible does not dictate going to church on a "Sunday".

The real issue here is whether you are in compliance with the will of God for you, or not. That will take some study on your part. You already demonstrated a lack of knowledge regarding what the Bible says, so reading the Bible would seem like a good idea.

Flirting with people normally involves a notion of sexual interest. Dressing immodestly coupled with flirtation generally indicates something less than a "good" person. Good people do not disrespect members of the opposite gender by how they speak, behave, or dress. Your belief system does not include God in it. You are the one who has decided how much influence God can have over you and what you choose to do. Nice try to box God and give Him a make-over. You won't get to go and meet Jesus when you die if you do not take the time to get to know Him now. You will either change within yourself to conform to Jesus' image or else you will remain deluded and not make it into heaven. God does love you unconditionally, however, He also wants you to get rid of all of the sin that exists in your life. Good luck thinking that celebrating holidays and seasons but not going to worship God will impress Him. Either believe the whole Bible or none of the Bible, but you can't pick and choose what is acceptable in your mind.

Ah, the foolishness of childhood. God does indeed love children but He tells us in the bible that when we grow up, we should put away childish things.

Like saying," I only dress for myself."

Please allow me to explain to you, Sweetie Pie that I am also a woman. Once thought of, as very pretty with a very nice body and

the same knowledge and desire that YOU have, of enticing men to admire me. I was very good at it, too.

Then I read the bible and decided that I wanted to please my creator and live forever and in order to do that, I had to follow HIS rules, not mine.

Of course, He gave each one of us the choice to live forever or die without hope of resurrection.

Since, according to the bible, Armageddon is just around the corner, you might want to sit down and think whether the pleasure of enticing men to send you admiring glances and lust after you for a few more years is worth an eternity of real happiness.

Try being kind, respectful, generous and honest to yourself.

It depends on whether you look to religion's rules or God's rules. God's rules are simple...love everyone, forgive everything, know yourself, and do you what you love, not what you hate.

Religion's rules are, love everyone who believes the same things you believe, forgive everything unless you perceive it as an attack on God, know yourself by accepting our version of who you are, keep coming back to our place of worship and give us more of your money. If you don't give us money, you'll go to Hell.

This is an example of how religion can sometime go too far. It's okay to have belief, but it's not okay to have it completely rule over your life. This can be seriously self-damaging. Instead of having others of your religion tell you what you can and can't do, decide for yourself what is appropriate and what isn't. Do you seriously think that a benevolent god would be mad at you for wearing short shorts?

So you're happy cherry picking some of God's rules whilst happily ignoring others? What part of the Bible lead you to believe that this would be okay with him?

sorry, but... you "only pray when your in trouble or when someone else is", god may be all loving but WHY do you only talk to him in those situations?

    you don't deserve his love.

sorry to be harsh, but whatever.

Finally someone gets me!! :D it's okay to do things that aren't 'holy'. But don't do bad things do good things. I'm sure god still loves you for who you are.
