Any advice on a good choice of headset to purchase?

I'm going to purchase my own headset because the ones I borrow at the club can sometimes be unreliable but also for hygiene purposes.I'm looking to budget around £200(roughly $250 USD) to buy a decent long lasting headset.I've looked on many websites and there is a lot of choice so you need to know what you are buying,I understand the ANR ones seem to cost a lot more.On my budget I've had a look at the David Clarke 13.4,and the Sennheiser 13.04.But if any experienced pilots out there have any good advice on which to choose it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would say that my Bose A20s are the best I have ever used, but man, are they pricey! You seem to pay a lot for the name, but if you can get a set at the right price the noise reduction and audio quality is sublime.

You can't beat David Clark for ruggedness and good value, but a little heavy to wear for a very long period. You really can't go wrong with them though, and if you ever want to go up to something like Bose, a DC set will still retain a good proportion of its value on resale

Aviation headsets, Kevin, Luke, and Aulad.

David Clarks are tried and true, get some refurbished ones off ebay for 100 bucks. If you don't want DCs for whatever reason you're going to end up overspending on Bose or Lightspeeds. There's a reason 99% of every sane person out there has used a pair of DCs at some point in their career.

    Sennheiser is a good company.

These are the most durable and perfect sound headphones.

Most cases of broken headphone or earphone - is that their cable is broken

and cables have a weak spot near the jack-plug.

Sennheiser is one of the good brands with no gimmicks. This brand is somehow government regulated "You're getting what you're paying for"

Celebrity brands like Dr. Dre can overprice their products - these headphones are overrated. The only reason why they are popular is because they are widely commercialised.

I had a pair of Sennheiser HD201 for 3 years and they're in perfect condition still.

David Clarkes are really good. I use a Rugged Air RA200, and its worked great thus far. It was cheap too, only about $100.

Of course i would love some Bose A20s.

All the professional pilots I know relied on David Clarke's headphones.

I figure there must be a reason for their choice.
