What could happen if my tax payment is late?
I completed my taxes on Turbo Tax back in February. I got a refund for my federal taxes, but I owed money for my state taxes. So now, it is April 17, and I realized that I never mailed in a check for my state taxes. What could happen, since I will be paying after the deadline? Are there more forms I need to fill out?
Thanks.

You will be charged late payment penalties and interest as laid out in state law. Just mail in the payment accompanied by the payment voucher for your state.

Get the amount owed along with the state payment voucher attached for that purpose to the correct state address and then they will in turn mail out a bill to you when and if the payment was late for the this past tax year.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 04/17/2014

In some states, state income tax is due at a later date than federal income tax.
Look up the deadline for paying state income tax in your state.
