When to send thank-you cards for early gifts?

I am in rather a unique situation, and I am not sure what etiquette would dictate for it. I will be getting married in early June; the ceremony will take place in Las Vegas and my fiance and I have built a road trip around the event.

Rather than registering for gifts, we have created a PayPal account to which folks can donate funds towards the honeymoon trip. Several people have already donated, which brings me to my question--when should I send them thank-you cards? Right now, or two months from now, after the wedding?

Also, generally when someone has given me a monetary gift, I describe what I bought with it in the thank-you card. If I should write the cards now, I'll be lacking the ability to do so. But two months seems like an awfully long time to wait to be formally thanked for something.

  • Get a gift. Send a hand written card...In my family. The children can not cash a card or check till the thank you is in the mail. Works evert time

I would send the cards as you get money that way you won't have a bunch of letters to write at once and two months is too long to wait.

Yes....no matter what unconventional wedding you set. It's important to make sure you insure you get gifts.
