Audition Question?

Hi, can you help me with my audition song?

I'm auditioning for a show (The Last Five Years) at my college, and I need to sing a few bars from a song in the style of the music from "The Last Five Years." If I want to audition for Cathy, what would be some good songs to use for my audition? And, which of her songs should be the one(s) I use as the 'style' for my audition song?

The song I would use was the best song my choir director suggested. If they're is an alternative, make

a selection just in case the choir was the first song that you had choose . If you need any added help ask

the choir director could give you any voice lessons; which would be to your suggestion. Do you have a CD of the musical when you can practice? If you do ; then it'll be on your side altogether.

I can sense that you have the potential to one way a door that will be new territory to get used to having

a positive aspect of being a quick witted singer.

Also, it seems to me that you have already the initiative to make something work out positive to be

    much happier.

In closing, The sky's the limit of better things yet to come. Thank you for letting me share with you.

Usually by style they mean a song that fits in with the musicality of the show, so since The Last Five Years is fairly contemporary but with a classic theatre sound so some from the Golden Age (like Oklahoma or West Side Story) will be too old fashioned while anything more experimental (like Spring Awakening) would be too alternative. I think something that's a but more intimate, not a big production number will be more successful.

My first suggestion would be to look up Parade and see if one of those songs would work, as they're by the same writer.

If that doesn't work then take a look at:

Anything Goes - I Get a Kick Out of You, All Through The Night, Goodbye Little Dream Goodbye

Song & Dance - Unexpected Song

Next to Normal - Everything Else, Superboy and the Invisible Girl

    Once - Falling Slowly

Rent - I Should Tell You

Oliver - As Long as he Needs Me

Listen to these songs and pick the one that ties in the best (musically, not lyrically) with Cathy's songs, as well as the rest of the music, as well as will really showcase your voice.

    Good Luck!
