How do you cope with depression?

It's always been apart of my life but always would go away for periods of time. I had a bad childhood and things just never have gotten better. Anyway, I've been in a bad place with my depression for about 10 months now and my mind is so negative constantly. I cry most everyday but other times I've gone through spells where I can't cry at all. 15 months ago I moved across country from wa to md and I work and come home and live with my 85 y/o grandparents. I have no friends and haven't dated or gone out really since being here. I'm so lonely and there's no way out of this. I feel so hopeless and everyone telling me to just stay positive makes me want to punch them in the face. The longer this goes on the more done I am and it makes me want to do irrational things just to temporarily feel better. I don't even know where I'm going with this I guess I just need to vent because I'm always alone and feel so unimportant and undesirable.

I understand you completely, I've been there and still occurs to me. Just get you're mind off things, go run etc. In my opinion who needs friends. Writing helps me a lot. Just do stuff that will help you're mind. I had depression for 4 Years and then it went to PTSD. Don't let depression beat you it's all in the mind. I'm still fighting, it's not easy but it's life. Be happy .

i am not a psychologist or a doctor. but to me that is not depression. that is getting settled. transitional period. like seasons changing. a temporary funk. don't buy into the label of depression. already feeding your mind that you are depressed and in a bad space. remind yourself that it is quite natural to feel "uncomfortable" and not yourself because of moving and living with older roommates. :) make a list of things you like to do or wanted to do. take some online classes. try a new recipe. do something for you. good luck and be well.

Hey that's interesting because I feel the same way except I didn't move across the country to try to solve my depression. You could watch South Park because it's funny. Then put all your negative energy into figuring out how to become extremely powerful because then you can control everyone who made you feel the way you do. That's what I do, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but it's worth a shot right?
