A lot of money going into the pockets of the preacher in charge.

Sunshine, churches are not subject to the same regulations other charitable organizations are, and the IRS is quite reluctant to audit religious organizations. I just heard a story about how scam outfits can register as churches, rake in millions of dollars, and evade auditing indefinitely. They can give away 5% of their earnings to charity, brag about all the money they're giving away, keep the rest, and never be subjected to the kind of audits that non-religious charitable organizations are required to go through.

I'm pretty sure all charitable organizations are legally subject to State audits.

The priests taking a much, much larger cut than necessary and very little put into charitable acts, amongst other things.
