what tips can you give to help me hit high male notes?
I like to sing, but one thing that bothers me is being able to hit higher pitched notes sung by a male singer. I'm not talking falsetto like Justin Hawkins or the Bee Gees; I can do that alright. :)
Take for example "Love Me Again" by John Newman. I can do the verse bits quite well, and can mimic his style; but it all falls to bits for me when I try to do the chorus and the bridge bit.

In case you're not familiar with this song it's the bit from 0:35 seconds in on this video. And then the bridge i'm talking about is at 2:30

Well, I am a professional tenor, and I would have trouble singing this way too. He is pretty much just shouting, and you can hear the strain in his tone.
You can sing high, or you can sing loud. But to sing high and loud at the same time is very hard....it strains the voice, and you can only do it for short periods, and then you get tired and risk hurting yourself.
If you try to copy this singer, then that is what you must do.
Trained singers control their voices so they do not force.
