One Piece Animation?

The show is amazing it really is and it's universe is alive with very strong characters. Plot material that many wish they had. Sadly the animation art doen't match up with everything else. does anyone know why the artist chose this direction and your opinions

One Piece is a very childish series, and that's what makes it fun. Luffy is a very goofy character, which is reflected in his personality as simply a pure-hearted kid who wants to become Pirate King so long as he has fun along the way. As such, I find the art style of One Piece to be actually pretty fitting once you get past the (false) fact that "good anime has to have good art". We meet characters with huge faces, ridiculous body proportions, and weird laughs. The silliness is reflected in the world, and hence why the art style is like that. What does it matter how they look? The point of One Piece is to have fun, whether we're talking about the Straw Hats having fun on their journey across the Grand Line, or about the audience having fun experiencing their journey they go on.

Of course the quality of art is hard to objectively measure against others, in the end of course it's up to you, but here's what I have to say, anyway.

Are you talking about the manga and or the anime, because their performance is independent of one another, aside from base artwork(although the anime has character designers).
 
1. After much progression, many people argue that OP has some of the best art for a weekly Shonen. Don't believe me? You can search a bit online. The art can be simple and cartoonish, but it can be very detailed and creative.

2. If you're talking about the anime, it's animated by Toei Animation, one of the worst independent animation studios on Earth. I am not exaggerating. Really.....The more popular the show, the more likely it'll look low quality.
