Cons, do you think the rich have a social responsibility?

while I do see you often talk about how you guys give to charity... which seems to be a lot of church giving...

is that a social responsibility to do so... or just "going above and beyond"

if you found out someone was rich and they didn't give... would you have a lower opinion of that person, or just be impressed if they gave?

My opinion would be lower. I believe you should give. But I also believe no one can force you to. I am not impressed by people giving.

You mean someone like the liberal democratic Billionaire Sterling who was set to receive a lifetime award from the local NAACP in LA?

I'm not a member of any church but I have no problem with tithing and donations to churches. The churches are often at the heart of organized charitable activities for the communities they serve... soup kitchens, homeless shelters, activities for at-risk kids, etc.

Beyond that what makes you think that tithing is the extent of charitable giving for conservatives... it's not.

Time after time conservatives have been shown to give more of their earnings, and more in total to charities and social causes then dems. That includes the % of earnings our current president gives. The debate seems to be who and how that money goes to and is spent.

They give mostly because it' is a tax write off. If there was no write off I don’t think you’d see them donating nearly as much.
