Any advice on body wraps?

I recently started doing research on body wraps. I would like to try them to help with water retention. It looks like a hydrating wrap is the healthier choice with the longest lasting results. My issue is, I don't want to go to a spa & pay a ton of money for something than can be achieved at home with no problem. If the products are readily available in stores then I want to try that to save money. So my question is, what products are good to use & can I use plastic wrap for this kind of wrap? Also what kind of care should I take afterwards?

I've tried body wraps. They don't last long. There just a quick fix. Maybe if you do them everyday for a month it may be more permanent. I thought they worked to. First wrap I tried I lost like 3 inches. But after a week you gain it back because your still drinking.

If your wrap has ingredients in it(so not just plastic wrap) they tell you not to wrap while on your period (if that's what you mean by water retention)
