what should i do?
Btw I live in California
I purchased a used car yesterday at a buy here pay here place. Should have done a more throughout check of the car but didn't. Today the car overheated after driving down to the grocery store. According to CA lemon law buy here pay here car dealers places have to give u a warranty 30 days or 1k miles regardless of the vehicles year or mileage. Now my question is what if I bring in my car for warranty repair dealer says he will fix it and just does nothing and keeps stalling me until the 30 days go by should I contact a lemon law lawyer that was my first guess but what other steps should I take as well I read somewhere that if lets say you take ur car in and dealer says they fixed it but can't provide you with an invoice of the work that was done you should not take delivery of the vehicle and just leave it at the lot. Because the dealer can't prove he did the necessary repairs.

Once you've complained within 30 days the dealer must fix it no matter how long past 30 days it takes. If he's honest you won't have a problem. If you're dealing with a dishonest dealer you're probably SOL. Suing him and getting a court judgment doesn't get your car fixed or your money back.

You are INCORRECT California Lemon Laws do not cover used cars! Take it back and hope he helps with repairs. In California used cars are sold "AS/IS' with no warranty unless so specified in the contract. There also is no cooling off period so once the sale is completed the car is yours. Good Luck

1st step should be to contact the dealer, explain the issue, ask for them to correct it in a calm businesslike manner. Most 30 day warranties only cover Engine and power train of the car. If the dealer is a "buy here pay here" dealer, they should be willing to get your issue fixed. Its much cheaper to fix a car than chase you for 2 years for non payment.
Why in the world do people say "get a lawyer!" before trying to resolve it yourself??

u didnt test drive a car u bought?....
replacing a radiator takes about 2 hours. if he stalls for more than 2 days, i would do everything to get my money for the car back. worry about the other steps later cuz it sounds like the car overheated TODAY and u dont know how its going to play out just yet. did u pay cash for ur car? if u paid credit, then u could always tell the credit card company to cancel the payment and give ur reason why. then the place u bought ur car would have to deal with the credit card company and u win.

Used car dealers are the slipperiest, most dishonest, slime-balls that ever crawled on the Earth. Do what you can to get the guy to fix the car. It shouldn't overheat, and it's not hard to fix. Be nice at first, but be firm. You need the car, and you'd be happy to pay for it, but it has to function as a car, not a yard ornament.
