The sky was taken over by a blanket of darkness and the light breeze struck cold against the faces of those who, out of no shear free will wandered the avenues during such late hours. The freshness of the air compensated for the nights out of the norm temperatures. For the third time this week, he watched her with eyes of fire. The wind left tears trailing down his large but charming face, and the cold stung at his cheeks, reminding him of the frigid winter mornings he spent wandering the streets alone as a child.

As he gazed at her with fervor, he kept his distance. He knew he had to remain unseen for if she'd seen him for even a moment, she would flee in fear, maybe never to be seen again

She reminded him of the mother he had once both loved and hated tremendously. Like a living embodiment of Aphrodite the goddess of beauty; her long, dark hair swayed in the wind as her deep aqua eyes sparkled like the lights along the city skyline. Despite her allure, she brought back feelings of fear and anger that he had been repressing for many years now.

At his age the years were indeed many. At least he felt as much. He was twice her elder; still, to him she was everything he ever wanted. He had followed her for weeks and was entranced by her. He remembered feeling like this once before, a long while back. Perhaps so far back in time that this extravagant creature he now examined from across the street had not yet been conceived.-
