I cannot see people who are right in front of me?

It's like my mind is playing tricks on me. I often cannot see/find a person I need to talk to and they are sitting right in front of me. I'll call her name and she says "I'm right on front of you". This happens a lot. I have pretty good eyesight. I wear glasses and I have small beginner cataracts. But something tells me this is a brain issue. I am 53. I am terrified!

Hey Butter, part of it is a lack of concentration, like you have a mile of things on your mind. The main issue, is when we get over 50, and I am not at all saying that's where life stops for people like you and me, we have to be more vigilant.

We need to take more care of ourselves, the annual medical check, I do mine every 6 months. Come November I have my flu shot. I had my eyes checked for re- prescription for glasses, and the optometrist told me I am going to need to have my eyes seriously looked at soon.

Diet also plays a big part, more of those dark green veggies like Kale, Rupini, Broccoli, and spinach. As for exercise, I am not going to say go spend hundreds of bucks and sign up at the Gym, start brisk walks for a couple of miles one way, take your dog for a walk. Slowly increase that to a jog. When you wake up, do some sit ups, push ups, leg stretches etc.

I used to drink coffee lite a fish pushes water through it's kills. The nutritionist, I see finally convinced me to get a juice extractor was an idiot Buttercup, should have bought one years ago, now I have fresh pin apple Juice, Mango juice, Peach, carrot Juices, when berry season is in up here, I buy heaps, and juice them.

I was also ordered to increase my water intake.

There are lots "we" can do Butter, and what do we say? "I'll start tomorrow!". It's never today or when we turned 30.

Sure we get a few niggles along the road, doesn't mean life stops at 50, they are the fun times, just need to do something to prolong those fun times.

Don't be terrified, nothing to be terrified about, you know when to be terrified Butter? When your doctor refers you to a cardiologist, and he orders heart surgery, a basically crapped myself.

When was the last time you took off to places like St Thomas or St Lucia, and relaxed on those white beaches? Don't ponder on it Butter, do it, pee off for 7 nights and pamper yourself.

There is so much we can do Butter, just got to stop look at ourselves and do it.

It's not a brain issue, it's an eye issue. Yes, the cataracts are affecting your vision, but I'm not sure that is the only problem, as there are certain eye problems as well as general health issues that can cause a blind spot in the center of your vision field. I am the same age as you, and I recently found out I had a detached retina, which caused the same type of problem you described. There are other possible medical causes as well, but in any case, it is very important that you get checked out by a MD as well as a vision specialist ASAP. I don't mean to alarm you, but if it is a detached retina, it needs attention immediately if you want to retain full vision. It could also be a sign of an oncoming stroke, which they can possibly prevent if they know about certain symptoms in advance.
