Can you recommend me some good jdramas?
Few preferences:
-I'm not interested in the dramas based around someone who is about to die.
-I'm not interested in dramas revolving around kids still at school. Kids and a school can feature in it, but I don't want it to revolve around it completely.
-A bonus if it's recent.
Recently watched and liked:
Hanzawa Naoki, At Home Dad
Both cheesy, but they had some redeeming qualities.

Hey, I'm here to take your question seriously.
It would help if you said what you did like (romance? action? comedy?) in addition to what you didn't (terminal illness, school-focused) but I'll just throw out my favorites from what I've seen from the last few years (say, 2011-present):
Detective/Police/Suspense: Strawberry Night (start with the 2010 Special though), Mozu (currently airing), Border (currently airing), Hard Nut!
Romance: Summer Nude, Soratobu Kouhoushitsu, Boku to Star no 99 nichi, Zenkai Girl, Starman ~Kono Hoshi no Koi~
2 guys just hangin' out: Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi (description blurb makes it sound boring but it's not).
