What's your interpretation of this quote ?
" You always overlook the most important things, because you let your emotions get the better of you. " - Near ; it is a quote from the Japanese manga series, Death Note.
I found this quote not only interesting, but very valuable too. Just a line, but such an essence.
For those who understand the meaning of this quote : how do you interpret it ?
Can you identify yourself with it ?
Does it help you if you think about it ?
Have a great day !

it means that you did not control your emotions, when you let your emotions completely take over then it can become destructive and cause you to act recklessly without 'thought' or in a 'rational way'...
Your mind is meant to make logical decisions and your emotions are meant to guide your logic, complete logic and complete emotion both lead to unnatural or destructive behavior,
So what your quote is basically saying is that your emotions are making you so focused on ONE THING that makes you feel a certain way that you forget about the other things that may matter more, for instance you may be really sad for a long time over your mothers death but you forget that everyone must die and that your mother loved you so much with all her heart and she would want you too be happy, something like that

Strong emotional reactions can mean associations with similar past events. It can mean you are living in the now but judging everything by past experiences.

I disagree.
Better let emotions get the better of you than live and die as a zombie!
I know it doesn't sound like the wisest answer, but when I see how a culture of escapism, hedonism and indulgence in purely materialistic pursuits turn people into selfish passive consumers, apathetic to other people's suffering and misery, I'd rather say better let your emotions get the best of you than turn into a robot.

I guess that I would interpret it as...You're so concerned with how you might feel about a certain situation that you let your feelings and opinions trump over logic and fact. OR possibly as, you're so wrapped up in your mind with what's going on in your life and with you that you fail to see others needs or what others are feeling or doing or striving for your attention. It's almost like the whole phone debate. If you're so busy online on your phone then you're missing relationships and the world...when you're so busy with your thoughts and feelings you're missing out on actual life. It's almost like a "live in the moment" I suppose.
