Can you exercise at all after wisdom tooth extraction?
I'm getting my wisdom teeth out sometime within the next month and know that for the first few days after surgery, you're not supposed to do strenuous exercising. I am in the process of losing weight and have a horrible metabolism. I cannot be forced to eat well (so I don't puke my guts up from the pain meds) and then not exercise for almost a week--especially since I have a deadline to lose the weight. Can you at least do abs and strength training? I know you can walk, but that's not going to burn calories or do much of anything unless you walk at a moderate pace for like 2 hours.

You can still walk. A brisk pace is good but you still burn calories if all you can handle is a gentle stroll. Walk for miles. Every mile is approximately 100 calories no matter how fast you walk or run it. Sure it varies by intensity, less if you walk slowly and more if you run but the math still comes out to roughly 100 calories. Walk 3 miles and that's not useless exercising. You shouldn't strength train at all even abs especially if you're prone to holding your breath but if you're going to do something like toning with dumbbells. It may seem agonizingly long but its worth the wait to ensure you don't suffer any unnecessary complications like a dry socket which is very painful.

I'd avoid it for a week. However, you can still walk and walk for a long time. Plus, after surgery you won't want to eat. Your calorie intake will be halved. Buy BOOST drink, they make an extra calorie and an extra protein one. Protein is great for muscle building and will keep your energy levels normal.
