  • How important are initials? Is COW too offensive?

I want to name my daughter Carissa Odell. Odell is after my paternal grandmother and Carissa is just a special name for me. My family adores the name but my concern is that my last name starts with a W. I will not consider rearranging the order. What I need to know is if COW is too offensive. Its not a curse word, isn't overtly offensive but could run into some problems especially if she ever has weight difficulties. I am open to two middle names and woiuld take suggestions. Thanks for your help.

  • Pregnant with baby number one, gender unknown, anyone want to help name it?

My boyfriend and I have been talking about names. He's pretty adamant about the boy's name but we're stuck and open on girls names. The boy's name is likely going to stay as Isaac John but suggestions will be considered. For the girl, I really like Gennesaret and Bevan, he likes Ruth and Rachel, we do agree on Laura as a middle name (either double middle or by itself). Any suggestions will be considered. We gravitate towards biblical names and names with meaning. Thanks in advance.

  • What is a first name that might go well with the middle name LAURA?

We decided on a boy's name fairly quickly but are stumped on the girl's name. We like Laura (name of a friend) but none of our favorite names go well with it. We both are keen on biblical names, names with meaning or names of historical figures. Any help will be appreciated.

  • Is it possible for a person with Asperger's Syndrome to physically undergo puberty but to have the associated emotional changes delay?

My sister is 28 years old and is experiencing some awkward emotional changes. Physically as a teenager she went through all of the classic changes but never felt the emotional ones. Now as an adult she is overly sensitive about her body, is uncertain about life, is trying to develop an identity, has mood swings, is self conscious, gives into peer pressure, had her first crush and is wanting to have sex and a baby all of a sudden. It appears to be puberty all over again, so is it possible to develop the emotional changes that much later?

  • How do you change someone's thoughts about something?

Once a person believes that people can read their mind, how do you help them overcome that and think normally again? How do you help them to stop seeing coincidences that lead to that as the only conclusion? Is it even possible? Does it require a professional of some sort, if so what do they do?

  • How did you know that you wanted to be a mother?

I'm a long ways off from making a decision like that in my life but its been on my mind lately. I'm just curious as to what made that decision for some of you.

  • Is a trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific an appropriate birthday present for a 1 year old?

It's for my niece. Of course I will buy her clothes and toys too but since the day she was born I have always wanted to take a trip with her to the Aquarium of the Pacific to see the penguins. I shared this with her father and my mother and they liked the idea and hoped that I would one day do it. I spoke to the baby's mother and it turns out she really wants to do that with her son. So I thought it might be a good birthday present to send my niece, her parents and her brother to the aquarium for a fun family outing. What do you think? She's very inquisitive so the trip wouldn't be wasted on account of her not understanding that its interesting and of course I'd take her again when she's older but it seems fitting right now for some reason. If not, give my better ideas please (toys, books, places to see, etc. I'm very open to suggestion) Thanks.

  • Is it selfish to seek careers that deal with things that you've experienced?

Two of the careers that I have wanted to pursue, working with people with autism and helping obese children, have been spurred largely by the fact that I know what it feels like. I wanted the opportunity to help someone else sort of not have it as bad as I did. Is that selfish or closed minded? People have told me it's better to help causes that you have no connection to because you're being more open and generous with yourself but is it really that bad to choose something that you've experienced?

  • What's the worst that can happen if I exercise after a tooth extraction?

I had two teeth extracted at about 9:00 this morning. I had planned to go to the gym later at about 6:00 for aerobics and yoga. Everything I've read so far just says to watch the bleeding and doesn't list any severe consequences for exercising. Basically what I want to know is what can happen so I can decide if I'm going to do it or not.

  • Do you think it would be possible for a shy person to overcome shyness to become a counselor of some sort?

I would like to help people overcome some of the same difficulties that I have faced in my life. I am extremely shy but I am working on overcoming that. What I am really trying to figure out now is whether or not majoring in psychology and striving to be a psychologist or counselor would be a realistic goal given my personality.

  • Who should I tell? Do I hide it online somewhere or tell the psychiatrist?

I'm planning a long term camping trip starting next week. As a general rule I have been told that you should tell someone where you are going. I agree with this, if for nothing else peace of mind knowing that someone else knows where I am. The problem is I cannot tell people in my family because they will do things to stop me from going, their reservations safety and questionable planning. I feel like I have planned well and despite the fact I'm going alone I think I will be safe. I don't have any friends and I think it would be stupid for me to tell people online and expect that to be the same as telling someone face to face. I'm currently seeing a psychiatrist and have considered telling him since he can't really tell my family where I'm going but a record of my plans would be in my file there, so technically someone would know where I'm at, meaning I didn't break that rule and have my trip already of to a bad start. Who would you tell?

  • should I talk to a psychologist???

Is it smart to see a psychologist just because you need someone to talk to? I’m kind of lonely and have a lot of things on my mind but I don’t have anyone to talk to about it. I just thought that maybe a psychologist would be a good alternative to just writing things down or just letting them stay on my mind. It’s not like they can tell someone what you’ve said to them. What do you think? Also, how are visits to a psychologist kept on your permanent medical record? Could that affect future employment or other things like that?

  • online application question?

I submitted an application for employment on June 29 and I understand that they are kept on file for a period of 60 days. What I was wondering was, on average how long does it take for Walmart to notify an applicant that their application is being reviewed or considered? Also, is an applicant notified that their application failed to match any available job openings or is this just to be assumed if no interview is arranged before the expiration of the 60 period that the application is on file?
