Can seizures increase your heart rate?

I had a seizure and right before it my heart felt like it was beating extremely fast, so can seizures make your heart beat faster? Thanks

well...... it can just be anxiety. Seizures aren't much fun - they're some giant release of electrical energy in your brain which is scary. Their cause is generally unknown. The heart also runs on electricity. So you can imagine a big release of energy could affect the heart - but mainly the heart beats rapidly when you're frightened.

If you have seizure, you might want to research treating it with Taurine. It's an amino acid which is cheap - you can get it at the health food store. There's some papers on the Net about this. You might start out with a dosage of 2 to 3 grams a day of it. It's not got any side effects, so if it did work, it would be so much better than any other medication.

Atkins mentions this in his book - "Vita-Nutrient Solution" which you can get used from Amazon - and as I say, there's various mentions of it on the Net as well.

Yes, seizures can effect your heart rate. If you haven't done so already, SEE A DOCTOR before considering self-medicating.

There are many, many things that can influence your heart rate. In your case, I find it irresponsible to generalize that fear is the usual cause & to suggest self-medication without knowing your medical history.

    I repeat, SEE A DOCTOR.
