One missed feeding won't hurt your puppy. Make sure to put the food down for 20-30 mins and then pick it up. Your dog won't starve itself but if it thinks he can get food whenever he wants then he will be picky. For the longest time I thought my Siberian husky was a super picky eater and I changed his food 5 times before I realized he just needed a feeding time rather than always having food available. If he doesn't eat for 3 days take him to the vet.

Dogs do go off food for any number of reasons, from a mild digestive upset, to something more seious, to hot weather even - and puppies newly away from their siblings, do miss the competition round the food bowl - and prefer to investigate their new world - although with a puppy, I'd always be more concerned than with an adult when this happens.
If this continues, or obviously if he deteriorates (vomiting/diarrhoea or both) then you need to see a vet. Just offer his food at the next meal time - no treats in the meantime so he is hungry - and if he refuses again, it's time for the vet. Without being able to see this puppy!! Perhaps he had too much to eat the day before - it could be as simple as that.
ps Natural yogurt (best if you can get hold of goats yogurt) just a small amount, can help sort out uncomplicated digestive upsets - and has he begun his vaccination course? If not, I hope you haven't had him out off your property.
