Gateshead FC?
So Gateshead finished 3rd in the Conference premier this year and they won their match in the semi-finals. They just lost to Cambridge in the finals today but does this mean they still get promoted seeing as they finished 3rd in the league?

No only the top team Luton and the playoff winners Gateshead are promoted. You don't lose a playoff final and still get promoted - what would be the point of the game otherwise? I have great sympathy for the fans of the teams that lose the playoff finals at Wembley. You spend a whole season dreaming of promotion only to see that chance disappear in a ninety minute final game.
It's harsh but the alternative is to revert to the automatic promotion spots but people love the playoffs because it gives so many more clubs the possibility of gaining promotion as the season draws to an end.

I don't think they will. Is it a play off system? If that is the case, they remain in the same league
