    (x)/(x -3) + (3)/(3 -x)

    = x/(x - 3) + 3 / [-1(x-3)] << cancel (x-3)

    = 3x / (-1) = -3x << answer

    (x)/(x - 3) + (3)/(3 - x)

    = (x)/(x - 3) - (3)/(x - 3)

    = 1

In order to add or subtract fractions, the denominators of each fraction need to be the same. For this problem:

    [ x / (x - 3) ] + [ 3 / (-x + 3) ]

    [ x / (x - 3) ] + [ (-1 / -1)(3 / (-x+3)) ]

    [ x / (x - 3) ] + [ (-1*3) / -1(-x+3) ]

    [ x / (x - 3) ] + [ -3 / (x - 3) ]

Now you just add them as normal:

    [ x / (x - 3) ] + [ -3 / (x - 3) ]

    (x - 3) / (x - 3)

    ------------------------------------------

    1

The answer to your problem is 1

    Hint: (3 - x) = - (x - 3)

that should be all you need !!

    Ω

    [(x - 3) / (x - 3) = 1 (for all x ≠ 3) ]
