is this battery acid?

i'm like ocd about batteries and them leaking for some reason. i opened the battery compartment on my remote control to see and they looked normal. the remote control was working fine before, i just wanted to check it randomly. i took the batteries out and they looked fine, the wrapper was not damaged or anything and it was still sealed. i put my finger inside the compartment and saw like five tiny white specks. i thought it was just debris and i looked at one of the ends of the batteries and saw like a few tiny white specks as well. at first, i didn't care at all and i just put the batteries back in the remote control and went on with my day without washing my hands. now i'm starting to freak out because i feel like it was dry battery acid but the remote control was working fine and the batteries looked like it was sealed and the wrapper wasn't damaged. i stuck my finger that i put in the battery compartment in my mouth, if it was battery acid, would anything happen to me? could it have been just white debris? am i being paranoid for no reason?
