The facts are. 1. it happened in middle of afternoon. 2. I have been breathless for about 2 weeks.3. When I lie on my back the vision is better. When I go in a dark room, I can see much better. 4. usually if I have sugar high readings my vision corrects immediately I get in control. You are smart to consider other possibilities. While these problems might be indirectly related to the chronic hyperglycemia of diabetes, their acute presentation strongly suggests that other forces are at work. You should see an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist or optician) who specializes in diabetes-related problems with the eye. Things can change quickly in the eyes, so its a good idea to be prompt in investigating things, although there's no cause for panic.
The severe headaches and the sensitivity of your vision to things like position are an additional cause for concern. These can be caused by intracranial lesions, by conditions affecting the nerves around the head and face, or simply by new-onset migraine. You'll need to get to the bottom of this as well. You may need a scan of the head to rule out bleeding or other lesions.
Your best bet is to check this all out with your doctors, specialists preferably. Good luck!
