Yes there was a "coup" and a curfew.

Carry air ticket documents to go to and from airports during the curfew hours. Reports indicate other good excuses, and a vehicle carrying no weapons, allow people to go on where they need to go.

The traditional coup d'état has the coup makers, usually military, actually taking over the government and running it, similar to Burma for years. Thailand seems to specialize in a "soft coup" where actual military officers do not replace civilian govt officials for a long time or just not at all. Further, "coup type" controls usually decrease fast and then disappear completely within a short time, too.

Thailand is the most unique place I can imagine.

..Since an hour ago General Prayuth Chan-ocha announced that he will govern Thailand as of today; after a bloodless coup.

the ousted PM Yingluck Shinawatra and 22 members of her cabinet were summoned for a meeting with the General.

There were condemnations from France, the European Union and the United Nations human rights office. Japan said the coup was regrettable and Australia said it was "seriously concerned".

    - Theoretically, there should have been a curfew in the past 48 hours, although in practice, it was never implemented except for some parts of Bangkok. -

In conclusion, anyone claiming that a curfew has been implemented through out the country, is somewhat of a halfwit due to their lack of knowledge about the facts; and is trying to stir panic among the people.

hey say that this is the 12th time it is happening again! TIT = This is Thailand!

We are already used to it and do live our daily lives as usual. Life must go on.

What more could you expect of politics?

We could only hope that some day, we will be more matured to learn and accept the TRUTH!
