I wont get into a college? Will I?

Im a Junior about to be a Senior. Im going to summer school too.

My Total GPA is 2.1

I know very low, and depression with family problems isnt an excuse.

I took all Honors and AP classes and i always did good on them. The reason why my GPA is super low is because i did really bad my sophomore year with 1.6 gpa on my report card.

So far my junior year i have gotten 3.0.

My SAT score is not good its a 1500.

I have one club and no sports. I dont have many community service hours.

The classes I always did bad at was math and regular classes. I even took Chinese and passed it. But my sophomore year screwed me up real bad. I know I wont be able to go to college. I dont know what to do?

What can I do with a 2.1 GPA and several honors, and a future IB Lit diploma?

You can go to a community college and work really hard, then you can transfer into a university. You can take the SAT again. You could try applying to colleges, but going to a community college is really easy. This is because you don't have to get accepted. Google your local community college, and you will see that it doesn't have an acceptance rate. This is because they take anyone. Also it is cheaper. If you still aspire to go to a university, you can transfer.

Yeah my situation is really similar to yours. :/

I'm sure there are some colleges out their that will accept your GPA. But if not you can go to community college first, and then transfer over to a different college that you would prefer.

Many people think community college is bad, but it really isn't. The only downside is community college will make you take a few extra classes that you don't need, otherwise it's the same as most other colleges.

You should really talk to your guidance counselor though. At the worst he or she may scold you, but he or she will definitely help you out.

( And probably give you better advice on this than the Yahoo community :) )

Hope I helped, and I hope that whatever you choose to do it works out for you.

Ok. You have options. Just take a deep breath and don't freak out. Breathe. I have some suggestions.

1500 is an ok SAT score (I only got a 1490 because I was sick on SAT day) and I got into a college that looks at high school grades instead of SAT scores. I would suggest taking the SAT again or take the ACT instead either over the summer or early in your senior year so it doesn't interfere with college applications.

Do well senior year. Work hard! I mean it! Take a lower level math course and get a good grade. It looks better than taking honors or AP math that you can't handle. Take honors and AP in subjects you do well in. Also don't take a lot of "fluff" electives. You can take one or two because it is your senior year, you can have a little fun, but take electives that will have some value like personal finance, a computer class, an employment class, current events class, etc.

Apply to colleges you'd like to go to, you may or may not get in. Also apply to community colleges, which will probably accept you, that way you have a backup if you don't get into a college you want. If you can't get into a college you want, go to a community college. You don't have to go to a community college for a full four years, but you can go for a year or two, take general education classes, make good grades, then apply to transfer to one of the colleges you actually want to go to.

You can make it all work, but you have to work hard. I wish you the best of luck.
