When are the best times of day for senior citizens to eat out?

That is, to dine out in a restaurant or cafe. What are the reasons for choosing those times?

I have never found eating out an enjoyable experience and have only done so out of necessity now and again. These days I'd find it difficult to pay the bill. It's much cheaper to eat at home or take a packed lunch if I wish to stay out for many hours and that is what I do. I'll be doing more of it if we have a good Summer this year.

Well, if you have a hometown buffet near you, go before 4pm and you'll still get the lunch price. the menu changes at 4pm to the dinner menu, so then you'll be able to serve yourself from that menu also.

I eat out most of the time. I find that I am appreciated at times when they aren't so busy and I appreciate those places that give discounts to seniors. If money is a problem, there are places that have times where they lower the price for seniors and those are mostly local buffets. I prefer to eat out when I am hungry and little else plays a role.

  • Between 1pm to 4pm, before the crowds hit.

    For breakfast it is 6am!

I'd say lunch time or early evening-late afternoon. "Early bird specials are good food, just cheaper and smaller portions usually. That's ok for seniors because we don't eat like we used to . Many of us also don't like a very noisy restaurant so earlier is better. Lunch is good for the same reasons. That way people will eat a big lunch and them have left overs for a light dinner.

Let 4:00 o'clock be the latest. My husband and I often went at 4.

Whenever you feel comfortable eating out would be my guess. Our time for meals are varied since neither my wife nor I feel hungry enough to eat 3 meals a day. We have taken advantage of a few 'early bird' at the Soup Plantation restaurant which has a great SC deal between 2 - 5pm. That time is usually too early for any of us.

Cheaper at lunch time and the sizes are usually smaller which is fine.
