Probably, because you're attracted to something that complements you, plus some opposite traits might seem unfamiliar and exciting.

I'm attracted to people of similar interests, but at least have one or two main qualities that i don't have. But not polar opposites

Not if they're totally different. Some differences could be beneficial and be what the other person lacks (e.g. a social person with a quiet person) and those different worlds can attract, but they still need some similar interests.

Scientifically yes. That was proven with magnets and polar opposites.
With people and personalities, no. A negative and a positive won't attract in this situation.
