Reckless Driving in Virginia?
I recently got pulled over on I-81 going 104 mph in a 70.
I know, I'm stupid.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was any possible way for me to not get jail time for this offense. Here are some of the details.
It was about 3am and there were no other cars on the road. The road was really smooth and I knew I was speeding, but I had no Idea I was going that fast. It felt like about 90mph to me (which I realize is still very fast). I was just very tired and was a little over anxious to get home that I did not pay enough attention to my speed. I was very polite when I got pulled over and did everything he told me to do without arguing. He was very nice and I knew he could tell I was scared. My record is spotless, with not even a single speeding ticket. With a good lawyer, do you think there is any way I could NOT serve jail time for this?

Unless you have a history of bad driving, you won't face any jail time. Reckless (or careless) driving is a crime but expect a huge fine, then possibly a license suspension .
We ALL mess up from time to time, wise up, slow down, drive safe, the life you save might be your own.

Jail time for a first offense is possible but unlikely - it is a misdemeanor. But expect a hefty fine (up to $2500) and possibly a license suspension... that is where the attorney comes in.

Jail time? More than likely a suspension of your license. I'm actually amazed that he didn't arrest you there and tow the car. It's probably because you weren't doing it in traffic that he let you go, and that part about not knowing how fast you were going? Yeah, bullpucky. It's dark out and that dashboard is very bright. You knew exactly what you were doing. The key is not getting caught.
