This could be a few things:

    1) Sounds like your hard drive is cluttered. If it is, then it would be necessary to clean it out a lot if you want a faster computer.

A way to do some cleaning is by running Disk Cleanup. If you don't know how to find it, do a quick Google search on how to locate it on your computer. (Be sure to also read up on how to use it, as you may end up deleting necessary files for your computer.)

    2) Your computer's processor may be outdated. It is recommended that you install a new one (you can Google for new generation processors), or if you're running a laptop, get a new laptop lol.

    3) Your CPU usage could be extremely high due to cluttered hard drive space, or several data intensive programs running. Close out of some extra programs you could be running. Don't forget to use Disk Cleanup too.

    4) Viruses. We've all had them. They can make your computer extremely slow and even corrupt some functions in your computer. You could attempt to remove it by using System Restore. (Do a google search on how to use that too.)

There are other things that could affect your computers capabilities, but these are just a few things. If you need anymore help, just message me.

    I hope I helped you out! :)

You can do system recovery. Or you recovery wizard. Search it in google on how to do it with whatever system you have. BEWARE: It deletes EVERYTHING. But I do that when I have to, when my computer is really slow and I can do nothing to fix it. Make sure you save all of your files on a flash drive. Good luck.

Try installing Firefox. If it works better then you have to clean out explorer cookies and crap. If it doesn't work you may have a virus or adware. Adaware is best or malware bytes. Com for hidden Trojans beyond that it's a virus and you need technical assistance. Learn more now while you can.

    Hello,

A good tool I used to clean up and speed up my PC is CCleaner. You can download it for free here http://j.mp/UrADby

    It's a must have program.

What are you using for malware protection ... probably nothing or Microsoft Security Essentials at best which is totally inadequate.

While not the only thing, malware is the most common thing.

    Non-malware related fixes:

    1. Install and run a free program called CCleaner or the Windows all in one tool from Tweaking.com.

    2. Prior to leaving your computer for an extensive period of time, close all applications and then run the Windows Defragmentation tool. Leave it to run while you are away from the keyboard.

    3. Your hard drive is close to being full: uninstall any programs you don't need anymore, being sure to empty the trash or rerunning CCleaner.

    Malware fixes:

First you must install a respectable AV program:

    Top free AV products

BitDefender Free, ZoneAlarm Free, Adaware Free, Commodo Free, Avast, Avira, AVG

    Best Paid:

Kaspersky, eSET, and BitDefender as the top paid AV products.

Next, you should install Malwarebytes Free as a back-up to your primary AV program and run it once a week and anytime you download files from the internet (scan just that file not the whole drive)

As it is highly probable that you are already infected, follow the instructions below. You can skip the long winded explanation on the bottom if you don't care. The instructions are all above the links. The reason is that if you are infected then any AV software you install may not be able to detect a number of viruses.

The best way to remove viruses from your computer is to boot from something other that your hard disk. Fortunately, most AV producers provide what is called a Rescue Disk. This is a boot-able CD/DVD or flash drive. On a *clean* computer, download at least one of these programs, preferably two of them. (No AV program gets everything but not many can get past two reputable scanners.) Make the boot-able disk or flash drive, boot the computer with it. Now this image was made a while ago so you will want to update after you boot. Once it has updated set it to work scanning your computer. See the explanation of why this is the case below.

Here are 4 of the many free Rescue Disks available:

One of the most difficult things about viruses is once you get one it is difficult to be sure you got rid of all of it/them. Resident programs are pretty effective at blocking initial infection if kept updated, but not so good at removing all of the viruses, especially the worst ones – root-kits.

Think of the entire computer with all the software as a walled city with one outer wall – the rest of the world outside, the computer and the software inside – and then a series of inner walls with fewer and fewer people allowed within the next layer towards the castle in the middle. It is the center wall within which all the power of the kingdom resides. On a computer, in the middle, we have the kernel or heart of the operating system which talks directly with the hardware such as the CPU, motherboard, RAM, etc. Anything that wants to access any of the computer's hardware must go through the OS to get there. In the layers going out, each layer has increasingly less security to go through (and less authority) so that on the very outside where the applications are, there isn't a lot of security or authority to change things on the computer.

Most viruses operate in the outer layers which makes it relatively simple to find, identify and remove. Malware performs various tricks in order to get access to the inner layers. There are, however, some viruses which manage to get access to the kernel level. These are called “Root Kit” viruses. Root is a reference to the center layer. In the Linux and Unix world, a root user has the keys to the kingdom and full control of everything on the machine. With Windows, of course, we don't have a root, we have administrators who actually have a little less authority than Root on Linux/Unix.

The Root-Kits are able to get themselves launched at the same time as the kernel, sometimes as part of the kernel. This happens well before any security software on the machine is launched. As a result, these root-kits have time to hide themselves and even hide other viruses from the security systems/software of the computer. The only reliable way to find them is to perform a virus search before the virus launches which means before the Kernel of the OS launches. By using something other than your hard drive to boot from you have full access to everything on the machine and nothing has time to hide because they never launch.

if using windows, exit almost all programs that start-up, use cc cleaner, upgrade memory or format if nothing works and re-install your operating system! Good Luck

  • open ur task manager.then go to processes and below you will find an option called view resource monitor.click on it

then go to the cpu option and close those processes which have a greater usage %.this will solve your issue i guess

Try running an antivirus program. You might have caught a virus and try defragging it as well.

    - You can type in google or bing and find the download sites or use this site: http://www.filehippo.com/

    - Download malwarebytes -> do a full scan on all drivers (you can plug your usb devices and scan those too) -> remove anything that is infected and restart computer. -> You may need to start computer into safe mode first.

    - Start menu -> all programs -> windows/microsoft update (also found in tools section on internet explorer web browser) -> make sure got high priority and security updates (you can also find their free antivirus software here).

    - I recommend avast antivirus software instead. Antivirus software require a lot of resources to always be running so a alternative is bitdefender trafficlight add-on for web browsers (and definitely malwarebytes).

    - I recommend firefox and/or google chrome web browsers. I recommend at least ad-block plus add-on, for security you can also get at least noscript, ghostery, and bitdefender trafficlight add-ons.

    - Download ccleaner -> do a regular clean and a registry clean. -> You can also uninstall programs, disable (don't delete) start-up programs, and delete system restore points.

    - You can also use, start menu -> accessories -> system tools -> disk clean up -> after calculating check all boxes and click ok.

    - You can also use, start menu -> run -> type, msconfig -> startup -> uncheck programs to disable them, then restart computer.

    - You can also use, start menu -> right click my computer and go to properties -> right click a disc and go to properties -> go to tools tab and do error checking. -> Then you can do a defragmentation (can also be found in system tools).

    - Start menu ->right click my computer and click properties -> go to advanced tab and click performance settings -> choose adjust for best performance (but you may want smooth edges of screen fonts still on and use visual styles on windows and buttons still on).

    - Also if you have a laptop, you may want to turn off power saving options because that can hole back your computer's cpu.

    - This is more advanced so DANGER AWARE, start menu -> run -> services.msc (don't use msconfig for it), then you can follow this guide -> (please learn everything before making changes) http://www.blackviper.com/

    - This is more advanced so DANGER AWARE, you can overclock your cpu. Please learn how and why before doing it, overclocking can be done in the bios or software for your motherboard or software for your clock generator.

    - Since web browsers and adobe flash player use to much cpu usage for youtube, a alternative is to download vlc player -> copy youtube internet url -> go to vlc player and go to media tab -> open network stream -> paste url and hit play. (If it's buffering because of your internet connection, make sure no one else is using the internet, also you can click show more options and increase the catching). (If cpu usage is too high, you can use vlc bonus gpu hardware decoding and some other settings).

    - You can add more virtual memory (paging file) to your computer. You can also go into your bios (or graphics card software) and give some of your system ram to your graphics card (if the graphics card has that feature, most cheap crap intergrated graphics cards can because they have almost no video-ram so they use shared system ram instead).

    - There is many settings you can turn off in video games that will help performance (such as graphics card video-meamory).
