I did not try to match my husband.
I did not make the groomsmen match the bridesmaid.
My husband had a grey tux and I had a white dress.
Most grooms has black tux and most brides are white.

It's hard to pick from the pictures without being biased about how good the couples look in each picture! Pick your favorite colors, or what you can see your own wedding party (and especially you and your soon-to-be spouse) would look good in! I went with an unconventional style based on what I wanted, and not what was traditional. I originally chose only one bridesmaid (my maid of honor, and my husband chose his one best man), but we got sweet-talked into adding another bridesmaid and groomsman because a friend of mine was jealous about not being a part of the wedding. I decided I wanted the girls to wear black dresses, and made pastel green ribbons to wear around their waists. The 2 groomsmen wore matching pastel green vests with their tuxes. At the time, those colors were unheard of! Shortly after, my mom told me all the celebrities were doing those colors. Not that I really cared, lol. It was what appealed to me at the time...even though green is nowhere on my list of favorite colors! I just imagined the look and liked what I imagined. I allowed my 2 attendants to pick their own black dresses to suit the style they preferred and felt comfortable in. The men didn't have a choice, haha. And to match the green, I went to a candy store and picked out tons of different crazy green candies in fancy boxes as wedding favors (gummy army men, gummy frogs, green jolly ranchers, etc.) It was different, but it suited me and my desire to be fun and different, yet classy. Pick what YOU like. You will be the one that remembers your wedding day the most.

I like the traditional white or cream wedding dress for bride and black tuxedo for groom with white or cream shirt and matching (dressy) tie. If you want more color, co-ordinate bridesmaids dresses and vests or ties of groomsmen. I like the picture #2 (love the accent colors) and if groom is wearing a suit (like in the picture) I do like the dark gray suit he has on in picture.

There is no ''perfect'' combination. The general rule is, EVENING weddings generally are in the dark spectrum of the color wheel anyway (generally fall and winter weddings go with the rule.) The only exception to that rule is DAYTIME weddings, (wedding coordinators know this cardinal rule lol) , it's entirely UP TO THE BRIDE AND/or HER FAMILY/WEDDING COORDINATOR which colors she wants and the groom and his party should just go along.

white tie white vest, black jacket. my fav,
The black jacket will contrast w/ the bride's white gown and make a perfect look, and the white tie and vest bring the whole style up 2 notches. I also like white bow tie. and don't forget the flower in the lapel.

I just luuuv to put a little color on those penguin suits, oooops, I mean tuxedos. And I luuuv the color blue. It has always been my favorite color. In fact I am wearing a blue shirt now. So I would vote for anything with blue.
