is he wanting to ask me out but afraid to?

okay so this guy is 3 years younger than me. he started flirting with me and tickling me and blushing while we were talking. i hinted to him that i wanted to go see a movie and he said he is been wanting to see it too. i said well we can go see it in 2 or 3 weeks and he said ok. then i told him that i needed to talk to him and he said sure we can talk about anything. then i told him im sorry that we where not close in high school but now we are he said yeah me too with a smiley face.

by what i told you does he like me and is afraid to ask me or just being a nice friend?

Update:

i asked him if he thought i was weird in high school and he said no, that he thought i was an awesome person in high school and that i still am to this day with a smiley face.

Chances are he is shy about asking you out and is more comfortable being playful and flirtatious--but I am guessing he has at least thought about it. I think another young lady on this forum is going to be able to give you a more clear answer. Good luck.

He seems to like you but the age gap seems a little big for high school. I like this girl that is probably a little older than me because she is a junior and I am a sophomore. I am older for a sophomore so I can't be more than a year younger than her but to me it feels like a huge difference. I know she kind of likes me at least at little bit but it's kind of a completely different situation than yours. He sounds like he likes you but may be a little afraid to ask you out. I know I probably would be afraid to ask someone out that is older than me by a few years.
