Can I join the military with asthma?
I'm 19 and currently considering joing the army but I've had asthma all my life. I have to take singulair once a day and also I have to take breathing treatments.
Although a bit unrelated, I might also mention that I had implants put into my feet when I was ten to correct flat feet. Would I be disqualified from joining the military?

my co-worker wanted to join the Air force but wasn't able because he had Asthma. and he smokes. so if you need medication to treat a symptom and want to join the military, its an automatic disqualification. the military only wants the best.
I mean im trying to get my G.E.D and I might not be able to join. im physically, and mentally ready, but my poor life decisions is why im on the internet rather than in the military.

Asthma after age 13 is a permanent disqualification, with no waivers considered.

Too bad. But there are other ways you can serve. Take a look at usajobs.gov. There are thousands of civilians who work alongside the military providing critical support.
