Hamster not using its wheel?

A week ago I cleaned out my hamster's cage for the first time and she suddenly stopped using her wheel. Before she used her wheel every night. But now all she does is chew on the cage bars. I am getting a bin cage, but not for another month. How do I stop her from chewing bars and get her back on her wheel? The wheel is only 6 inches wide. Since she is still a baby she can still use it. I have tried everything to make her stop chewing the cage bars. Vinegar, pushing her away ect.

How bout rinsing the wheel and then laying it in the cage and pour shavings over it, eventually she will get her scent back on it and then you can reassembly for her use. You removed her scent - and there may still be lingering smells of cleaner on wheel. Stop with the vinegar - hamsters teeth never stop growing - they have to gnaw or the teeth will grow thru their heads - not a pretty sight. Get your baby all kinds of good for her chew toys, get her scent back on the wheel or at least what ever is on there off and you will be fine.

OK, first thing, check the wheel. They jam easily and maybe when you cleaned it got stuck.

Next, and this works for gerbils and rats too, dilute 1 part tabasco sauce with three parts water, mix well. Take the hamster OUT of the cage. With an artists bush paint the bars he chews with the mixture. LET DRY THOROUGHLY, (you can use a hairdryer if you like) and put your pet back in. It works and I or my kids have had hamsters or gerbils for 40 years.
