How come Mark Jackson got fired but Scott Brooks keeps his job?
How does Mark Jackson get fired for losing to the Clippers (a more talented team on paper) in 7 hard-fought games, and yet Scott Brooks, who has had 5 years with an immensely talented team and done next to nothing with it, keep his job year after year?
OKC just announced that Brooks would return for another season, despite yet another playoff disappointment. Over the last five years, Brooks has had the 2nd best player in the NBA (Durant), a top 5 point guard (Westbrook), the best shot blocker (Ibaka), and until the past 2 years the best sixth man (Harden). What does Brooks have to show for this? 1 measly Finals appearance (where he was embarrassingly outcoached) and 0 championships.
Meanwhile I simply don't understand what Jackson did to get fired. All he did was take over a team that has historically been awful, and with pretty much the same core players they had before, win 47+ games two years in a row and win a playoff series last year. And it's not like they weren't competitive in the playoff series against the Clippers this year. In fact, they were probably more competitive in the series than I would have expected them to be on paper, especially without their top interior defender in Bogut to guard Griffin.

It has been a controversial question but it is apparent that Jackson was having personal issues with the management. Either the GM or the owner wanted him out because they simply did not like him as a person. There is no REAL evidence of it but it really does appear that Jackson and management got into some kind of fight or something. Also, players were quoted for saying they really liked Jackson and would be disappointed to see him go. Brooks is keeping his job most likely because OKC is still generally successful and the players and team management like him.

1. Mark Jackson was fired because the ownership believed the team underachieved this season. Sure, the Warriors' record has improved every year but when they acquired Andre Iguodala, they had championship aspirations and did not expect to get knocked out in the 1st round of the playoffs. They also did not like the fact that they were the 6th seed.
2. Jackson and owner Joe Lacob were at odds with each other throughout the season. Remember Jackson fired his assistant coaches? Well, it was believed that some of those coaches were working against Jackson because they were more loyal to the management/ownership than to Jackson. Of course, it's easy to see egos clashing here. Jackson is a strong personality and has a lot of friends in the media. Nobody could be more connected to the NBA than Jackson. Lacob is a new owner and he probably thought he should get more credit due to his hard work and the investment that he has put into the team.
3. Under Scott Brooks, the team has won over 70% of their games the last four seasons. They have reached the Semi Finals, Conference Finals and the NBA Finals in the past three seasons. Only team/coach that have done as well as he has are the Miami Heat and the Spurs. Both of whom have now returned to the NBA Finals for the second straight time. (Heat have been there four times in a row)
By the way, here's a fun fact for you. You say "1 measly Finals appearance", well, since 2004, there have only been a handful of teams (other than the Thunder) that have reached the NBA Finals. These teams are Lakers 4), Heat (5), Pistons (2), Cavaliers (1), Celtics (2), Spurs (4) and Magic (1). We can even throw out Cleveland because that team had Lebron James.
You are little harsh to say that Brooks has not done a great job if you consider the fact that a lot of teams have never even seen the playoffs, let alone the Conference Finals. Sometimes, having two superstars is not enough. You usually need three. Ibaka is good but not great.
Oh, and Scott Brooks' Thunder defeated the Clippers in six games. I don't see how he should be fired for losing to a better team in the Spurs.

Well first of all you cannot compare the first round exit to a team that went to the WCF, so two series later.
Second, Jackson and the Warrior actually did better last year in the playoff than they did this year because they made it to the second round last year and lost this year in the first round,
Third, this is probably why the real reason why he got fired is that he and management and Jackson did not see eye to eye and just like any business, if your boss does not like you and if they can fire you then they probably will fire you and I believe this is what happened and the other reason why I stated before our simply reason they can say they fired him

I think they probably keep him because of the accomplishments OKC has had in a short amount of time (even though they haven't won a title). KD and Westbrook are so talented and carry that team every night, its almost like they don't have a coach. People complain about Westbrook all the time but it should be Brooks they complain about since they have no offense to go to, so they just jack up shots. Mark Jackson is a good coach but he's not a great one either but he is definitely better than Brooks.

If we discount the Sonics, the Thunder was formed in 2008.
In just 6 years, this team has had 4 division titles and 1 WC championship. Except for their inaugural year, the Thunder never had a losing record. In fact, they never had any season winning fewer than 50 games (except for the lock-out-shortened 2011-12 season, when they finished 47-19, second west in the west).
These achievements are impressive for a young team. Plus, Brooks was coach of the year in 2010.

Why should Brooks get fired because they lost to the Heat. Then lost because Westbrook was injured and then this season because Durant choked

scott brooks is to okc what mike brown was with lebron in cleveland. they happen to have a top 2 player in the nba and just let them make plays. the only difference between the 2 is that scott also has westbrick.
