Bleeding land rover cooling system?

I just changed ird unit/transfer case on my 1998 2.0 TD land rover freelander and was told that bleeding the cooling system afterwards is a 'must'. I have no idea how and what is the right way to do it, any help would be great- thanks

What in the HELL does replacing the transfer case have to do with the coolant? Closest possible correlation is transmission cooler in radiator. As long as engine is running, add ATF to full, run thru the gears, re-check, transmission/transfer case.......Umm, self-bleed?
