What should I do to improve my friends computer?
What should I do to help improve my friends laptop computer?
My friend is complaining lately that his computer is running slow lately!
his is an Asus where mine is a HP see the spec image attached, as we have both have almost similar specs as in the regards of processor/ ram etc!
we basically use both machines for similar routines e.g email/online research, music and watching the odd occasional video/DVD and some photo editing and Photoshop work, Mine runs pretty quick where his is running a bit slow in comparison and mine is the HP (which is slightly lower in basic specs)!
The main problem with his seems to be certain programs take longer and slower to load and the internet on the same ethernet/network LAN-line (my internet speed is heaps quicker then his, and we both live in the same apartment building of about 75-100 people/apartments, we are both on the exact same internet with the rest of the building, but we both live on the complete opposite sides of the building with me living a bit closer to the office/reception/main modem area, but within minutes of leaving his apartment, I did a quick speed test and mine was about ten-twenty times faster, on the same web browser and the same speed-test!
But my main option why I'm asking this question for is:
A:should I try heaps of 3rd party software to clean it or should I
B: update drivers:
C: re-install it back to factory condition if possible, B4 he goes out and buy a new one!
I'm thinking A,B,C in order!

You can speed up by the just follow these points...
1. Stop all unused applications.
2. Turn off unneeded Desktop Features that try to make things look better.
3. Do a shut down/reboot also known as a cold reboot.
4. Empty the Recycle Bin.
5. Uninstall all applications that are no longer needed.
6. Run "Error Checking" on all hard drives.
7. Run "De-fragment" on all hard drives.
8. Install anti-virus software and keep it current.
9. Find and Delete Temporary Files.
10. Be realistic.
11. Set your computer's energy settings to High Performance.
12. Clean Up Primary Partition.
13. Download a Secure Computer Cleaner.

Instead of doing all that, do the easy things first. Defrag the hard drive(s), scan it for malware (MalwareBytes is good for that) and make sure the hard drive has a good amount of free space (having less than a few gigabytes of free space can cause problems).
Only if none of those things help would I consider wiping it. Even then, it's possible that the computer is just too slow and lowspec to handle the demands of today.
